The Fukushima nuclear wastewater drainage tunnel is injected with 6,000 tons of water a day! The nuclear radiation of marine fish exceeds the standard by 180 times

The Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred in March 2011 led to a nuclear leak at the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan. It was the largest nuclear leak in recent decades. A large amount of radioactive material was released into the air and water, causing severe nuclear radiation. Pollution, and because the Fukushima nuclear power plant is close to the sea, many marine organisms have also been affected by the nuclear leak, and the nuclear radiation substances they carry seriously exceed the standard.

In recent years, Japan has always wanted to discharge the nuclear-contaminated cooling water of the Fukushima nuclear power plant into the sea, and told the outside world that the cooling water has no nuclear pollution, and that it will discharge nuclear wastewater into the Pacific Ocean from the spring and summer of this year ( Not officially listed yet).

This move was opposed by neighboring countries, but in order to curry favor with Japan, South Korea sent a special delegation to testify for it in May this year. In 5 days, it announced to the outside world 5 times that the nuclear wastewater from the Fukushima nuclear power plant was not polluted, and even stated that The nuclear wastewater here can be drunk directly.

However, the news came soon! Japan’s Tokyo Electric Power Company (the parent unit of the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant) announced to the outside world on June 6 that radioactive elements were found in a marine fish called Xu’s flatfish caught in the harbor of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant in May this year. The content of cesium reached 18,000 becquerels per kilogram, which was 180 times higher than the standard (100 becquerels) stipulated by the Japanese Food Sanitation Law.

Xu’s flat scorpionfish is a demersal fish in the warm and warm waters of the coastal waters. It often inhabits near the bottom of the muddy bottom waters in rocky reef areas with clear water quality. In July 2022, Xu’s flat scorpionfish caught off the coast of Fukushima Prefecture was found to have seriously exceeded the standard of radioactive contamination. This all shows that despite 12 years of seawater washing, the nuclear pollution around the Fukushima nuclear power plant is still very heavy. The seabed sediment, marine life, and even the flowing seawater there have extraordinary nuclear radiation.

Then, how can there be no nuclear pollution by directly cooling and washing the nuclear wastewater of the Fukushima nuclear power plant? In fact, even the Japanese do not believe this question. In a public opinion survey conducted by a Japanese research company in March this year, only 26% of the people believed that there is no problem with the discharge of Fukushima nuclear wastewater into the sea, which means that 74% of the people All thought there was a problem.

In fact, previous inspections also found that the tritium concentration in the nuclear wastewater of the Fukushima nuclear power plant was 640,000 becquerels, while the tritium concentration in ordinary drinking water was 10,000 becquerels, which means that the radioactivity of the Fukushima nuclear wastewater is 64 times that of drinking water.

According to CCTV International Times and other media reports, Japan’s Tokyo Electric Power Company began “injecting seawater into the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant’s nuclear contaminated water drainage tunnel” on June 5, and will inject about 6,000 tons of seawater within one day.

This news did not specify whether the nuclear wastewater was discharged into the sea-sea tunnel or whether the seawater flowed back into the sea-discharging tunnel. It is speculated that it should be the former, but in fact, regardless of the type, the discharge of Fukushima nuclear wastewater into the sea is about to happen. Since Japan is an island country, its discharge of nuclear wastewater into the sea can hardly be monitored, so it is also difficult to stop.
