Robot dog shooting with a submachine gun

In this video, a robot dog carrying a submachine gun continuously fires bullets at the target, and an armored vehicle appears in the background.

You may be wondering: where did this horrific video come from?

Robot dog with a submachine gun on its back

The video was first posted on YouTube by Alexander Atamanov in March, before it swiped on Twitter.

The robot dog featured in the video is very similar in style to Boston Dynamics’ Spot, but is completely different in the feet, ports and front end.

According to the details of the fuselage, some media infer that the robot dog in the video may be Unitree Yusu’s “tech dog”, which sells for about $3,000 on AliExpress.

It has the same feet, port locations and connector covers as in the video.
As for the submachine gun installed on the robot dog, it was recognized by netizens as a 9x19mm PP-19-01 “Vityaz” submachine gun. It is equipped with a silencer and a red dot optical element. It cannot fire automatically and is mainly sold to civilian shooters.
In addition, the robot dog is equipped with a long-range GoPro camera, which is fixed behind the red dot optics of the gun to capture frontal footage, and a matching antenna can be seen near the stock of the submachine gun.

As scary as it looks, there are some downsides to the robotic dog in the video.

It doesn’t seem to handle the recoil of the gun very well. When it fires a bullet, the barrel moves up, and it must take the robot a minute or so to regain its balance. Also, we don’t know if the robotic dog was firing on its own, or if someone was pulling the trigger off-camera remotely.

Despite this, the video of the robot dog shooting back and forth with a submachine gun on its back has brought a great impact to netizens.

Netizens are worried

However, it is no longer “news” to have a submachine gun on a robot dog.

Last year, Ghost Robotics, a robotics company, and gun manufacturer SWORD International jointly created an armed robot dog called SPUR.
The semi-automatic rifle installed on this robot dog can use a 6.5mm caliber Creedmoor (6.5mm Creedmoor), which is designed for long-range shooting and has a longer range than the 7.62x51mm NATO commonly used by the US military, allowing SPUR Accuracy can be maintained up to 1200 meters.

Ghost Robotics revealed that the robot dog can automatically reload and clear the gun under remote commands, and the company has launched extensive cooperation with the US and Australian troops.

More netizens said: They are ready to welcome the robot dog overlord.
