According to the FAST Operation and Development Center, so far, the 500-meter-aperture spherical radio telescope known as the “China Sky Eye” has discovered more than 660 new pulsars. Relevant staff of FAST said: “At present, ‘China Sky Eye’ has entered a period of fruit explosion.”

The Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope (FAST) is known as “China’s Sky Eye“. It was conceived by Chinese astronomer Nan Rendong in 1994 and completed in September 2016. On the 25th, it becomes enabled. Led by the National Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, it is the largest single-aperture and most sensitive radio telescope in the world with my country’s independent intellectual property rights. The comprehensive performance is ten times that of the famous radio telescope Arecibo.

In early 2022, it was officially announced that FAST had discovered a total of about 500 pulsars, making it the most efficient device in the world to discover pulsars since its operation. That is to say, after about half a year, FAST discovered about 160 pulsars.
